Semester 1: Conclusion

To sign off for the semester I would just like to say that I enjoyed our Forum class and everyone in it despite my being sick for the semester. I apologize for the missing of the German speaker and for being too sick to join my classmates on there trip to Hamilton Middle School. I hope everyone has a great break and and next semester. Hope to see you all in other classes. As for my first semester of college I loved it. Although I have been sick for about two months off and on I really enjoyed the people, teachers, and classes. I learned so much new information and hope to learn just as much from my next semester here at Edgewood. Thanks everyone for making my college experience great.

Vodcast Review.

Vodcasts:

Group 1
I found group ones vodcast to be the worst of the five. The vodcast did not present a very entertaining movie but rather a slide show of pictures. I think if the vodcast had some video it would improve. As for the information it was pretty good but again just talking and having pictures is not really a vodcast in my eyes. The other aspects of the vodcast were good, organization, technical, and quality all were in order and appeared to be well done.

Group 2
Group two did a few things very well. First off Music and sound/video quality were good which makes the it appear more proffesional. The organization and technical stuff was well done as well and mistakes could rarely be found. What this group lacked was information. The video had more music and video that information which can be fun but in this case information is essential.

Group 3
This group was one of the best in my opinion. They had all the necessary elements making up there vodcast and really didn't have mistakes. That said there is always room for improvemnet and perfection whivh in this groups case could be made in a few of the feilds such as organization and quality of video and sound. I did like the humour in this which is definitly a good quality tpo have.

Group 4
This group was equally as good as the last group. Although this particular vodcast lacked humour the group made up for it in quality. The sound, information, video quality and everything overall really was well put together. Probelms I found were dull speaking and too cliche (no creativity). Despite this I still love the vodcast and thought it was one of the best if not the best.

Group 5
This was my group which I actually didn't do anything for the vodcast but instead made the podcast. I though our video was not so good. The people did not have bad quality or information but lacked creativity and effort. Over all I didn't find anything in particular impressive and personally would cahnge quite a bit if i had been the creator. I do howver give the group props on havening quite a bit of information.

Sienna Lecture and other activities.

I found the Sienna lecture to be the least worthwhile of our classes activities, although it did have a few interesting points in it the presentation in a whole seemed dull to me. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been shorter and more to the point. I did however enjoy listening to a few of the topics and hear a different perspective on them from the speaker.

As for the other events we have had for the year I loved them. Soccer and Basketball were wonderful to go and watch our athletes in action. I will definitely attend any games I can in the future.

The final one i would like to cover is the play we went to. Despite my sickness I thought this was a wonderfully done performance and enjoyed it immensely. i was especially surprised at the quality of acting going on in the play. The new and old students alike did a spectacular job playing there part.

Forum Drawings!!!

In the twelve drawings we made for forum class I saw some very repetitious aspects stand out. These aspects are mainly laziness and pure lack of creativity. I found each picture to just have a line or scribble added to it rather than a small creative image describing how you feel that day. Now with atht said some pictures were drawn well and do allow you to see what the drawer may have been thinking. The Thanksgiving and Christmas ones in particular were easy to pick out for obvious reasons such as turkeys and christmas tress. Overall I thought the drawings were quite stupid and really didn't describe any emotion mainly because people were just to lazy and had such a lack of creativity that they didn't bother to do it.

Podcast Analysis

The first podcast I listened to was on astronomy. I found it to be one the more interesting of the five that I listened to. I would definitely recommend it to any students or person interested in space or science in general. The second podcast that I listened to was "Shakespeare By Another Name" which was a very intersting piece on the life of William Sakespeare and his his alias name. I found this to be a very good podcasts if you are interested in acting or theatre as well as being very informative on Shakespeares life. The final was a vodcast on the Worlds Deadliest snakes which was the best of the three was very funny as well as informative for people who knew nothing of snakes. I would defintley reccomend it to anyone of any age to watch and learn the truth about snakes.
For the two podcast i found on iTunes i chose to listen to comedy ones. The first i found was a podcast show titled "Nobody is Listening" which talks about real life stories form the two broadcasters and from people who listen to the show. I found some of the stories to be boring, but some were alos funny. Over all i would not promote the show but have nothing against it. The second podcast from iTunes which was a podcast about upcoming movie Indiana Jones Part 5. This was a very cool podcats since I am a big fan of the Indiana Jones movies. After viewing all these podcasts I have learned of new ways to get information and will be using podcasts in the future.

Technology and Learning Activity

For my first activity i chose the Illusion one. I found it really pretty cool to try and match the lines up, it turned out to be much more difficult than I suspected. Also it was neat to see how illusions really can mess with your head, even when you think you have seen through it you really haven't. The second activity I did was avatars which was pretty familiar since I have made one before. I found this particular version of Avatars to be rather boring, it had very few options and the ones it did were dull and stupid. Over all I thought they both could have had more into them the illusion one could have shown a few more illusions and the avatar one needed more options on it. Over all it was kinda cool but I wouldn't do them on my free time.
